A Special Election is any election that is not regularly scheduled. A special election may be held for any purpose authorized or required by law; often to fill a vacancy or for a public measure.

The Anamosa School Special Election will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Community Center.  

Public Measure - MD

Shall the Board of Directors of the Anamosa Community School District in the Counties of Jones and Linn, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $15,700,000 to provide funds to be used together with sales tax revenue bonds to provide funds to build, furnish, and equip a competitive gymnasium addition and support spaces to the existing high school, including a walking track, locker rooms, and concessions; and including a new parking lot, access lanes, and other related site improvements?

Voter Registration

Pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2022. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after Monday, August 29, 2022, will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by Monday, August 29, 2022, should expect a longer processing time at the polls on election day.

Absentee Ballots

Absentee Ballots will be available for mailed ballots and in-person voting.  The website will be updated as soon as ballots are ready.   The first day an absentee ballot can be mailed is Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Voted absentee ballots returned by mail MUST be returned no later than 8:00 p.m. on ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, September 13, 2022 to be considered on time to be counted.  Voters are advised to keep in mind that postal delivery is now two to five days.  Postmarks do not count!

Extended  hours are available for voter registration and absentee voting in the Jones County Auditor’s Office. In addition to regular hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., extended office hours during this special election season will be as follows:
